The Comox Valley Community Broadcasting Society is a donor-funded and volunteer-based organization enabling public access to broadcasting and dedicated to providing community-based information and music programming representing diverse voices and cultures.

Volunteer Coordinator

Are you passionate about community engagement and interested in playing a vital role in supporting our community radio station’s growth? We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator to help us build and manage a dynamic team of volunteers committed to amplifying local voices.

Responsibilities:

    • Personnel management: Recruit and direct new volunteers to Team Leads for various roles within the organization. Foster a positive, respectful and inclusive volunteer culture.
    • Data Management: Maintain the existing volunteer database. Track skills, availability, and interests to match volunteers with suitable opportunities as they arise. Work closely with other Teams to identify volunteer needs and ensure proper placement.
    • Coordinate with Events Team Lead: Organize meetings and training sessions for volunteers.
    • Resource Creation: Assist in developing documentation and training materials.

    Requirements:

    • Leadership skills: Ability to direct and motivate a team of volunteers.
    • Organizational skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
    • Communication skills (verbal and written) 
    • Problem-solving skills: Ability to handle unexpected issues and find effective solutions.
    • Experience in event planning or coordination (preferred)
    • Passion, interest in and commitment to community radio
    • Reports to: CVOX Board
